Life Recovery

What is your calling?

bratsjourney | July 13, 2007 20:49

I was listening to Greg Laurie on my way to work.  He was talking about what God is calling us to do.  What are our gifts?  Do we have the courage to try and fail, as a process of elimination to finding our gifts?  He said he would rather try and fail than to regret not trying at all.  How many of us don't even try at all because we are afraid to fail?  I know I could raise my hand!  I'm 48 and I have many things I regret for not trying.  How about you?  What do you regret not trying?  What if ...?  One of the things going on in our church is Giving Hope ... changing What if to What is!  I just need to ask for His courage to do what I am afraid to fail at.

Patty, Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment about the blog. I know so much of what I write isn't me, it's usually the Holy Spirit writing through me. So many of us are in some type of crisis, however, not many of them know the Lord and they continue to make the crisis worst. Being a believer doesn't keep us from the storm, it gives us someone to hold onto through the storm. I would so much rather trust Him, when He can see 360 degrees from where we are than to trust myself when all I can see are storm clouds. Draw Him in as close as you can, He'll get you through. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. God be with you.

Well, I've only read through page one so far but I wanted to tell you how much reading your blog has blessed me. I'm 50 (turning 51 in three days - yikes LOL) and happily married to a believer and no kids (happily). We own a florist I have been running for 27 years with my mom and with my husband for the only last five years. We are in a financial crisis and I woke up this morning a couple hours early and found myself worrying again. Not in a real bad way, but worrying none the less. We both have MS - I for 17 years and my husband just diagnosed last fall. My 84 year old mom works here also. It's so hard to know what to do. This is all I know - yet following the Lord is not restricted to doing what I know. I just wanted to let you know it was very encouraging and refreshing to read page one of your blog this very early morning. God Bless You Sister!
