However, it is true, this is America's Independence Day. Of course, when I hear this, I think of Will Smith's movie fighting aliens. Altohough it could also be that Will Smith's character reminds me of my son.
I guess what I'm trying to say is Thank You to all the men and women who serve in all branches of military for keeping America safe and free. Some men and women have served the ultimate sacrafice and are no long among the living leaving their families to miss them terribly.
I spent a few hours today volunteering at our church's July Freedom Celebration. This is free of charge to all that come. It was hot outside, however, it was so wonderful to see people all over the community with their children having fun in the sun with food, games, music, snow cones, cotton candy, and all. It was great to see all the volunteers working in the heat serving the community and as our senior pastor says, "Being Jesus with skin on". I have to say, I had it easy. I worked the food pantry and we handed out popscicles. Our sitting area was shaded by the building and the breeze made it bearable.
I hope you all had a safe and fun 4th of ... oops, sorry ... Independence Day. Enjoy the fireworks and stay safe.
Hi, I'm Deb and a recovering Catholic who gave up on religion, but was searching for something. I also thought I had given up on God, only to realize I hadn't and that He had not given up on me! What Good News that is! I live in Northern Nevada, married, have 3 married children (2 daughters and 1 son) and 5 grandchildren. Nope, they all live in different areas, which makes seeing them difficult. Thank you God for pictures!
I work on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe and am thankful for the drive I make everyday.
