Life Recovery

July already?

What happened to the first half of this year?

The office manager where I work commented that we are in the 3rd quarter.  Then I had my oil changed and the sticker reminder date is 10/2.  Wait a minute, I just took my studded snow tires off, how can we already be so close to October?  The only thing I am looking forward to is the cooler weather September and October brings.  This year, like all the others as one gets older, is flying by.   Which makes me wonder, what have I done for God so far this year?  Am I doing what God is wanting me to do?  What is it God is asking me to do?

I've been reading, "In the pit with a lion on a snowy day, How to survive and thrive when opportunity roars"  by Mark Batterson.  It gets me thinking about what lions I have not chased in my life.  Is there something I could do that no matter what, I could NOT fail, what would it be??  Plant a church?  Spread His Word?  Start a shelter?  Write a book?  I had so many urges to write a book and start a shelter.  I'm getting an urge to be involved in planting a church.  As well as go on a mission.  However, I'm afraid that I will let my insecurities, desire to play it safe, and watch the lion zoom by.  Leaving me with the feeling of regret and the I shoulda coulda woulda.  You know what they say about hindsight.

My prayer for you and me is to chase the lion God is revealing to us and trust in Him to show us the way.  Like Benaiah, he chased that lion into a pit on a snowy day and killed him.  He wasn't afraid, because he trusted God to protect him.  What faith.  How wonderful it is to truly have faith in Him and surrender to His will and not our own.   I only hope I have a quarter of the faith as Benaiah had.
